Primitive Japanese side table. It is from the Meiji period (1860s-1900s). 
The material is cedar wood.  This dynamic table was carved from a single large cedar tree. 
The grain of the cedar wood is very beautiful.  It can be used as a night stand, coffee table, display stand, etc. It is a versatile piece of furniture that can be used for a variety of purposes.  It is a very valuable item that evokes the wabi-sabi aesthetic.
